What asbestos services we provide most:
- An asbestos management survey is a standard survey which is required to be carried out on any building which was built or refurbished prior to 2000. The purpose of the survey is to locate the presence of asbestos containing materials (ACMs) in a property and measure the risk of any being damaged or disturbed during typical use.
- Both refurbishment and demolition surveys are used to locate and describe, where practical, all ACMs present within a building. These types of surveys will most certainly include an inspection which is both intrusive and destructive, as this is necessary in order to enable our specialists to gain access to all areas. In certain circumstances, a refurbishment survey can target the areas which are most likely to be worst affected by the planned works, leaving the rest of the property undisturbed. Any asbestos located must be removed by a specialist prior to the commencement of any refurbishment work.
- Any property which has previously been identified as containing asbestos-containing materials should be subject to a regular re-inspection survey. An experienced specialist should be contracted to re-inspect any property previously surveyed and update the information contained within the Asbestos Register which may be held electronically or as a hard copy.

All operatives will have the correct Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) which includes:
Disposable overalls with hood
Boots without laces
Respiratory Protective Equipment (RPE)
Exclusion zones will be established in the work area, and suitable warning signage will be erected
Unless otherwise stated, waste will be removed from site by us – this waste will be double bagged/wrapped in 500 gauge polythene and placed in securely locked compartments within our van.
After completion of the work, the area shall be left in a clean, tidy condition.
A visual inspection and appropriate air tests as required will be completed.
That’s why at AO Environmental can survey and test for asbestos and get the results back within 24hrs.
Then if it is asbestos, we can safely remove it under Notifiable Non Licensed Work (NNLW) regulations so you don’t have to. If the identified asbestos needs to be removed under licensed works, we’ll be able to find a contractor who can remove it safely and quickly from our relationship with national contractors.
In owner-occupied domestic properties, you as the owner are not legally responsible for risks to contractors from asbestos, as the owners themselves are not engaged in any work activity. It is the contractor that has a duty of care.
However, if the property is non-domestic or a commercial property (even a property that’s rented out) you do have a duty to manage asbestos under regulation 4 of the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012.
The person deemed the duty-holder by the Health and Safety Executive is the owner of non-domestic premises, or the person in an organisation who has direct responsibility for the maintenance or repair of non-domestic property.
